Sigh...ever feel like you just want to lie down on the floor and just let the world walk around you for awhile? This weekend was a rollercoaster ride. On Friday when snow was coming down like crazy(we ended up with almost 2' when it was done) we had a medical emergency with one of our hounds, Xandy Bear. Our regular vet didn't know what was causing the problem and didn't have an ultrasound so told Glenn to get her to Oradell Animal Hospital right away and he would call to let them know they were on the way. I left work and "rushed" to meet him. With the snow falling a half hour trip took an hour and 45 minutes. By the time she was looked at there her episode had stopped. I don't know what the deal is but each time we have a big storm, Irene, last year's freak October snow storm and now Nemo something bad and fairly expensive happens to one of the hounds. Last year in October Huggie Bear, my avatar, hurt her back and was very wobbly in the back end-ended up living in the kitchen for several months but she recovered nearly 100%. Last year about this time Xandy Bear was diagnosed as diabetic and now gets insulin twice a day and lost her sight when Sandy hit. So now the snowstorm and this weird wheezing episode. It wasn't reverse sneezing-I swear it looked more like an asthma attack or something. Anyway, we'll be doing more testing to see if we can identify the trigger. So, I really haven't been focused on me again this month so far and we're almost to the halfway mark. Hope all of you are doing better.

Blonde- how is your baby doing? Hope all is getting better.

Jodie - thanks for sharing. I may have to see who is in my area.

Well the blood sugars are all over ranging from 60's to 300's in the same day. Atleast I am getting some in the normal range during the day. Just need to keep the highs away.

have a great day

[QUOTE=createfourpaws;5855912]Blonde- how is your baby doing? Hope all is getting better.

Xandy Bear is at Oradell Animal Hospital sedated and intubated. She is stable and the docs will try to figure out why she is having problems breathing so hopefully we will at least know what we're dealing with today. We are accepting all good thoughts and prayers that we make good decisions for her.

Well, I leave in 30 minutes for a spine injection. Maybe if the pain goes away (think Positive) I will be able to exercise besides "Sit and Be Fit." Have not even walked in the mall since Sept.

I am still not getting email notifications when responses are posted. what am I doing wrong?

Wow, just realized it Tuesday. Time to get on with Taboo/Teriffic Tuesday. Sorry I forgot before now. I had posted questions 1 through 3 for everyone and then you were to decide if it was Taboo or Teriffic for you. Here goes 3 through 7 - same decision.
4. True or False: Skipping breakfast is a good way to shave calories off your daily total
5. Which "grab and go" snack packs the most calories? a Kit Kat (4 bars), b bottled Green Machine Smoothie (15.2 oz) c Jamba Juice Strawberry Whirl Smoothie (16 oz)
6. True or False: Dieters should get up early to hit the gym - even if it means skimping on sleep
7. True or False: When trying to shed pounds, it better to eat too few calories than too many.

4 False. Eating regular meals helps keep your fat burning metabolism stoked and cravings under control. Need proof? The national weight control registry - a research project that tracks 10,000 people who have lost at least 30 pounds and kept them off - found that about 80% of successful dieters eat breakfast every day.
5. A bottled Green Machine smoothie. Surprised? A Kit Kat has 210 calories but one bottle of Naked's Green machine contains the equivalent of almost 3 apples, half a banana, a third of a kiwi and a third of a mango - adding up to 280 calories. Fruit is healthy, but that's more than you would ever eat in one sitting. The Jamba juice has 220 calories. The lesson: pay attention to calories per serving even in nutritious foods
6. False. If you have to choose between exercising and getting fewer than 6 hours of shut-eye, you may want to skip the gym. Reams of research have shown that lack of sleep causes imbalances in hunger hormones that may lead to weight gain and obesity. Instead of cutting your rest short, sneak in smaller periods of exercise throughout the day by doing quick sets of strength moves like push ups and crunches before and after work and taking a brisk walk during lunch.
7. False. Eating too little can actually slow your metabolism.
Thanks to Biggest Loser dietitian Rachel Beller, RD for this quiz.
There's a teriffic Tuesday in there for me. How about you?

Blonde hope your baby is OK. I went to my quilt guild meeting tonight. It was nice. I have way too many projects to finish and not enough time. I need a quilt quilted and bound by March 6th. It is my Mystery Train quilt from on here. I am donating it to the school carnival. I also have a donation quilt that i need to layer, back and quilt soon for a raffle for a friend awaiting a kidney transplant. Plus I need to make a baby quilt for my new grandson and am supposed to be working on one for my nephew. (he is paying me) I found someone in my guild who is needing some practice quilts to work on with her new longarm. She is going to do my 2 quilts for free since she says they are practice quilts. I will of course pay her for her time etc. Whew that is a small load off of my mind:-)
Our guild challenge for the year is a mystery quilt. We got the first clue tonight. I am going to make it a Quilts of Valor quilt. I hope I have enough red fabric, I am trying to buy very little fabric. There isn't a lot of red in my stash.
