I have a friend that was given a Singer Featherweight 221-1 and we have no idea how to find out the year it was made....does anyone know where to go for that? Thanks

You need to find the serial number on the machine (should be on the underside of it) and look it up on the Singer website. :) If you post the number here, someone will be happy to help you find out when that particular number was commissioned!

Here is where you look it up. The serial number is showing this is a Model 15. I could have read it wrong. Can you show us a photo?

I don't have the machine here with me. It belongs to my friend and the book that is with it say it is a 221-1. I will try to get to see her and try to get some photos of it and post it. Thanks for your help.

It will be AG not A6. Featherweight serial numbers always start from two letters. Without even looking it up on the Singer site, I already know that this machine was made in New Jersey in the U.S. probably in the 1940's. I just checked and it's showing February 1947.

Yep...Shelbie is right! :) I just looked it up before I saw her post...instead of AG 918571 it's going to be AG 718571 :)
