A local turkey farm puts these birds out every year as a marketing gimmick; I thought you-all might get a kick out of them. They get a quick dip in nontoxic dye, and by Christmas the new (white) feathers have replaced the dyed ones. These few birds get a break, at least temporarily!

bright!

Yeah, I thought Easter, too! They should be orange and brown now, then green and red for Christmas! How funny!

I wonder if the turkeys think they look pretty or just weird? If me and my neighbors woke up all different colors one day, I'd be a bit freaked out.

Remember those Easter peeps? We always got our cousin's peeps because we lived out on the farm. I had a peep that grew to be a Rooster that hated my mother. He wouldn't let Mother in the chicken house to gather the eggs! So my job became to get the eggs every day after school. I used to dress that old boy up in doll clothes! But when it came time to do him in, I was sent in town with my cousins. My Grandmother got him then - she said he was a tough old bird!!!
