Last weekend we kept two of our grandsons overnight. They were playing with Legos on the living room floor when suddenly the 6 year old ask me "Nana, do you have a button box?". I replied that yes I did and went and got my button box as well as my Mother's which I inherited. He and his brother (8) carefully examined the contents for a few minutes then went back to playing with legos. I said "Jake, did you want to make something with the bottons?" He replied, "No, my teacher said that all grandmas have button boxes and I just wanted to see if you did".

It occured to me that possibly young women do not have button boxes???

I do, my daughter does, and each of my grands does-they asked to fill a jar from my vast container of buttons. They make up games to play with them (match colors, size etc.)

Oh how sweet! My buttons are in a bowl in my sewing room, guess I need to go find an old cigar box!

I have mine in tins and I also have my mother's, grandmother's and an aunt's all in tins...Wow I never really thought about it, I used to spend hours playing in the button box. I don't know whether my grandkids even know I have button boxes...I'll have to check that out.

It's refreshing to know that a young person saves buttons!

I have buttons I have saved for years and inherited some of my Grandmas. My kids laugh at all my buttons but when my GD needed some for a school project they knew right where to come. LOL
