my soon to be one year old kitty Zoey always cover just her food when she's done eating, why does she do this???
sometimes it's empty, sometimes not. it's strange, she'll cover it with a placemat or fabric or a towel, somethings she has to goo to another room to get something to cover it with. she is anindoor cat born and raised

When I was growing up, we had a dog named Heidi. She had lived with us her entire life and had never wanted for anything. But if we gave her something 'special' and she didn't eat it immediately, she would hide it for later. We were forever finding pieces of food in our shoes and dirty clothes. When mom would start getting boots out and stuff for winter, she would ALWAYS find two or three green modly burgers stashed away for later. The breeder said that it was because she had had pups three times. She thought she might need them for the next litter of pups.
My avatar kitten has a tendency when she gets something really good (last night was some small shavings of roast beef) and doesn't want to eat it right away, she will just lay on top of it and NO BODY better come and try to take it from her. She is a really loving cat to everyone but not when it comes to food.

When we give Baylee a large dog treat she does not eat it. She will walk around the chairs, into other rooms, all over with the treat in her mouth. She is trying to find a hiding place. She tucks it under cushions on the chairs trying to push the fabric with her nose over and over.
I found it under my pillow more often than I can count. I guess it is instinct, how their breed had done things. (toy poodle) Iis hillarious to watch.
