I hope that I don't make this post too long, but I really needed to share it with you all. It will give you a laugh.
My kids's grandfather is 91 years old. A wonderful man. He recently was very very sick with pneumonia and internal bleeding. He lived in Arizona. But when he was released from the hospital, his son and daughter in law have an adult foster home and brought him up to Oregon so that they can take care of him. He didn't watch TV except for the news on occasion but that is it. So anyways, my oldest daughter went to see him today and took him a Chocolate Candy bar. Just a plain old Hershey's Candy Bar. Now grandpa is totally with it totally. (I hope when I am that old I have all my scruples he was my ex husbands dad). Anyways, when my daughter went to see him, she gives him the candy bar and jokingly, not knowing he does not and never really has watched TV, says....Maybe this Candy Bar has the golden ticket. And grandpa looks at her and says "That would be really nice." And he proceeds to open the candy bar, looks in the wrapper and turns the candy bar over several times and says "Wheres the golden ticket?" My daughter then tells him that there was only 5 golden tickets and that if you got a golden ticket you got to go into Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. And hes like "What in good riddance are you talking about and where is the golden ticket?" So once again she explains that it was a joke. Poor old man was totally flustered Bless his heart. So anyways, some time this coming week or weekend, she is going to rent the movie Willy Wonka And the Chocolate Factory and sit and watch it with her grandpa. But for the life of her Grandpa just couldnt comprehend what she was talking about. LOL.

I really wish I would have been there. But the whole time my daughter was telling me about it she was laughing because her poor old grandpa hadnt a clue what she was talking about. Still makes me chuckle.

Sometimes we forget that older people don't alway watch what we do or understand todays slang.
I hope they enjoy the movie.

This is funny, as my kids will do this to me...as I am not much of a movie person. I have learned to keep my mouth shut or they bring the movie home for me to watch telling me I will really like it....NOT

Please be sure she gets the older version of the movie with Gene Wilder as Willie Wonka, not the newest one with Johnny Depp. That one scares me!

I think that when they did the new version with Johnny Depp it totally ruined the movie. It scares me too. Can't for the life of me figure out why they RUINED a perfectly good movie.
