I understand there are now some kids who do not know how to use a regular phone - the kind where you pick it up, listen for the dial tone, and THEN dial the number.

At a well known donut shop I ordered "coffee, black" and was asked if I wanted that with cream and sugar. I said "sure, just don't put it in the coffee". They looked confused.

Once at Ben Franklin's, a friend asked for a quarter yard of fabric and was told they don't cut it that way so she asked for 1/4th of a yard and the girl gladly cut it--14 inches. We just watched dumbfounded.

Imagine a kid today trying to use a rotary dial phone!

My grandnephew (6) went to a museum in December. They had one on display for kids to play with. He knew it was a phone, but asked how you dialed a phone number. We showed him...he gave up about halfway through. Took too long.

To think I remember the first time I was allowed to dial one of those rotary phones and didn't get upset about how long it took. But I do remember getting halfway through a number and my finger slipping out of the dial. Do over...
