grand canyon in March??
#1
I have no idea of the weather/temperatures in the Grand Canyon area in early March. We will be driving from North west Florida to WA starting the end of Feb and stopping to see my son in Kansas City.
I have never seen any of the western states except for flying to the coast. Is the canyon even accessible at that time of year?? Maybe the southern area??

There are 2 'rims' that you visit. I think in March the 'north rim' will still be closed, but you should be able to visit the other 'rim'. I have never been to the north rim (it is the north side of the canyon). But be prepared for cold! It is beautiful up there. Here is a link for you to look at. This is quite an idea, but there is no way that I could walk on it. They would have to get the maintenance crew out there just to clean up after me :)!

We live just a bit north of the North Rim. It will still definitely be closed then. The North Rim is much prettier than the South Rim. The weather here will be about in the 50-60's in March during the day, but will be in the 30-40's at night. Days will probably be clear, with occasional storms, but storms don't last long when they come in March. Zions canyon is also about here, and is open and beautiful all the time.
The sky walk is stupid. Quite a waste of time and $$. The road is not paved, and it's not much there. Cross that off your list. It's at the end of the canyon, and isn't even very pretty from down below (we went on a river trip through the grand canyon 2 years ago - what a blast!)
I'd love to give you more ideas about what is in this area.

I'm going to be visiting my son and his family in mid March and will also be going to the Grand Canyon. You can never be sure of what the weather will be there. If I remember correctly we have run into fog there in the spring-so thick you couldn't see below the rim.
