Default Guess what I just did.

I just finished warpping 25 Christmas gifts. Actually, they're advent calendar type gifts. Instead of the usual 25 pieces of candy, I bought 25 books at garage sales. So each night, the grandkids get to open a present, and mom and dad can read a book to them. I saw this idea on the internet and have been wanting to do it for a couple of years. I just happened to come across a couple of garage sales this past weekend that had TONS of children books, in good condition. This works out well, as my DIL doesn't like the grands to have too much candy.

Better to have sugar plums dance in their heads than cavities form in their teeth. Sweet readings will get them further ahead in life than candied sweets. Great idea!

Awesome idea! I really like it. I might just have to do something like it with books, maybe some hot wheel cars, a little bit of candy. Or popcorn and hot chocolate . All sounds good to me.thanks for the idea.

Because of my daughter's insane food allergies we've been doing this for the past couple of years. She's now old enough for Lego, so my husband bought a Lego advent calendar for this year. I'm toying with the idea of doing both since I can't bring myself to not wrap the books to open.
