Default Hankie made into baby bonnet.

When my first child was born A Girl she got a lace hankie make into a baby bonnet that she wore home from the hospital.
Along with it was a poem that ended with sniping the stitches and she would have the something old to carry down the ile for her wedding.
I made one for each of my other kids. But have lost all of the poems.
I have a Great Grand Son coming and I want to make one for him so his bride will have something old to carry down the ile.

Please help

I Googled hankie baby bonnet poems. If you go to "ATTIC SHOPPE" it has the poem on the front page. I always wondered about the pattern.

  • I′m a lacy hankie, As pretty as can be.
  • With a bit of stitching, A bonnet has been made out of me.
  • To be worn home from the hospital - Or perhaps on my Christening Day.
  • Please cherish and pack me away.
  • Then on her wedding day, A few stitches snipped
  • And a wedding hankie I′ll be.
  • And if by chance it is a boy, Someday he will wed and to his bride
  • He can present this hankie, Once worn upon his head.

My mom used to make these for new babies!! I had forgotten all about them... but I'll be looking for the pattern, too... Our son and daughter-in-law told us a few days ago they are expecting our first grand child!! I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!! This will definitely be one gift I'm making!!
