I saw a Phaff I cannot think of how to spell it a sewing machine. Well any way I saw a portabble one and I didn't buy it and I am wondering if you think it is a good buy. It sure looked pretty all black. I am going back tomorrow and see if it is still in the same place, but I am wondering if that is like the same as buying a Singer ( which I know how to spell)!

Pfaff is an excellent brand of sewing machine. I have 2 and the only thing I have ever done to them was regular maintainence. You won't go wrong if you purchase one.

An older black one probably has all metal gears like the Singers. Also, check to see if it has the 'walking foot' installed. It is a small black bar that comes down behind the foot.

Vintage Pfaffs are definitely collectible machines, just like Singers and Berninas!
