Well, the bad weather finally hit us last night. I was rudely awakened, at 130 am, by what I thought was a lightning strike, sounding like a gunshot. When I walked into our living room, I could see nothing out the window, because the wind was blowing the rain so hard, it was like a blizzard. So, I stepped into the front room to see if things were ok there, and I discovered that I really had a dropped ceiling. And then, it started leaking in my bedroom, so, I had to abandon my place of rest.

I got ready to leave for work this morning, after waking my DH, who slept through the whole thing, LOL, to show him what had happened in the front room. He got dressed and walked outside to see if there were any damages to the house and caught me before I left the driveway.

Well, we had a 60>70 year old evergreen snap in half and fall on the roof of these 2 rooms. But, I still had to go to work, and that was really hard. So, DH and DSIL got out the chain saws, and tractor and loader and took the tree off the roof, to discover a hole in the roof and possibly broked rafters. And then they rolled a semi tarp over the roof, hopefully protecting the 2 rooms from further water damage. We also lost another evergreen, the same size, but it just fell in the yard, and not on anything.

So, now I have to empty out my bedroom/office/sewing room and also the front room to put up new rafters, roofing and then new ceilings in both rooms. I think I want to run away from home right now, and then I think of all the flood victims in our state, at Bismarck and Minot, that don't even have homes to return to. I can count my blessings.

And now I realize what is really the worst part of this whole ordeal. When I close tonight, I have to take my computer out of this room, because there are leak spots all over the ceiling, and I don't know when I can someone out to run a line to hook up in another room. I am going to miss this board. Keep us in your thoughts over the next couple of weeks. Thanks for all comments, because I won't be back for a few days.

This is the water creeping up to the east edge of our driveway. I can hardly back that direction any more

This is the top of the tree resting on the roof over my bedroom/office/sewing room and the van didn't have any damage.

Oh my!!! I am so sorry for what happened! I hope your home is fixed quickly for you. Our neighbors have HUGE trees and I am worried some day they will fall on our home.

Better the roof than you! I know this is going to be very hard and certainly disheartening but remember, this too shall pass! Keeping you in my prayers.
