Day 1-Trip to Menards. Decide to buy sink for kitchen. Eat out to celebrate.
Day 2 - Spend 2 days looking, find sink, a special order. Decide we need new faucets. Look for faucets. Eat out.
Day 4 - Find faucets! special order.
Day 8 - Faucets come in. Pick up.
Day 13 - Sink comes in. Pick up. Also buy putty, grout, strainer, caulk, sawblade, flange, adhesive, etc. Husband goes nuts.
Day 14 - Friend who is a tileman comes over to release and lift old cast iron sink. We need him so we don't break the special order ceramic tiles around it. He scores sink, breaks a tile. We don't kill friend. Husband goes nuts after friend leaves. Have replacement tiles in basement from former owner. Husband says he can cut them and repair. Uses maybe a chain saw. Tiles destroyed. Sawblade destroyed. Decide to check out tile cutters.
Day 15 - Other friend comes over, helps lift out old sink because plumber buddy coming tomorrow to help put in new sink. Old sink now out. Eat out. Plumber buddy calls and can't come for 3 days. Eat out for 2 days.
Day 16 - Back to Menards to return grout. Wrong color. Go to Home Depot. Buy tile cutter that is really cool. Husband goes nuts because he only needs diamond blades for his chainsaw or whatever he used. Buy diamond blades but also tile cutter. Husband tries tile cutter and loves it. Problems solved. Eat out. Measure - realize old hole for sink is too small for new hill dollar sink. Husband goes nuts. Recut support for sink and pull out tiles. (I would have attached this if I knew how.)

Part 2
Day 17-Menards for right color grout. Special order-2 wk delivery. Decide no. While there, spot bulbs to plant, better color grout, paint chips for hall, check out lighting for bathroom. etc. $______ later husband goes nuts. Eat out.
Day 18 - Tile cutter works great - husband has a new tool, therefore is happy, cuts tile, we set tile. Back to Home Depot for the perfect color group - find it! It only comes in 25 lb bags. Spend 2 hours visiting with friends at Home Depot because most of the employees by now think we work there. Eat out.
Day 19 - Discover new fancy faucet supply lines don't match in-house supply lines. Back to Home Depot for new connections. Come home and spread grout. Decide rest of grout needs cleaning. Down to Ace Hardware for grout cleaner. Spend Saturday nite cleaning grout. The party never ends.
Day 20 - Put in sink and new faucets. New faucets are male and connections are male. Need female connections. To Menards to replace sexually dysfunctional faucets. Eat out.
Day 21 - Drug store to renew high blood pressure medication.

Pam, that is just too funny! I could picture it all the way through, and even winced a couple of times to think of how my husband would have reacted to some of the "issues" you had. No, I think I would need drugs to deal with his frustration. My husband is a computer geek - not a carpenter, plumber or auto mechanic.

I've been there before. Everything takes 4 time longer and cost 5 times as much as you think it will.

Oh, that is too, too funny! Having been there, I can relate to how frustrating it is while it is happening, and how funny when you have some distance from it.
Relationships are definitely tested when immersed in any renovation project, especially when you are PAYING to have it done correctly! :?
