Here's the recipe for Mtn. Dew Rolls:Originally Posted by Gladys
2 large Granny Smith apples
2 sticks butter
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 tube/pkg crescent rolls
1 can Mountain Dew
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Peel apples, and cut into quarters. Roll each apple wedge in a crescent and place seam side down in a 9"x13" baking dish. In sauce pan, melt butter then add cinnamon and sugar. Pour melted mixture over apples. Then pour Mountain Dew between rolls so the "goo" doesn't get washed off. Bake for approximately 30 minutes.
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. YUMMY!!!!!
Tips: I mix the sugar and cinnamon together before adding it to the melted butter so you dont' get those little annoying lumps of cinnamon. I also only use one apple and cut it into eighths. It seems to turn out just fine this way. I have found that using a quarter of a large Granny Smith apple doesn't allow for the pastry to completely cover the wedge -- which is the way I like them to be. Experiment with this and then make it your own way. I always make only a half recipe except I still use one tube of crescent rolls.
These rolls taste very similar to apple pie, but so-o-o-o much faster to do! I got this recipe from a former administrator of mine.
