Default How good a housekeeper are you?

I'm not a very good one. We need to get our house ready for sale next year, and I am finding dust and dust bunnies and clutter everywhere. It will take an enormous amount of time just to get the surface of things looking pleasant to the eye -- much less cleaning out drawers, closets, storage areas, etc. I've never been very good, but I'd have to say looking at all this I'm actually pretty awful!

I would blame it on quilting, except I was this way before I started quilting!

I am sure you are Not alone. I was a much better housekeeper when I worked 40 hours a week, but since I retired 6 years ago other things are more important than housekeeping. Oh my house isn't "dirty" it is just lived in and things aren't always where they should be...because other things are in the way. God forbid the day we would have to move I would need a bulldozer to move things.

My house is pretty clean as I make cleaning part of my exercse program. I don't think I spend more than 1/2 hr. on any one day as I rotate the rooms to be cleaned. Of course, I don't have kids or pets to clean up after, so dusting & vacumning is quick & easy. I've also got a policy that is something new comes in, something must leave.

Me and DH joke quite often that if a burglar broke in, he would break his neck trying to get around the clutter before finding anything. Good luck on your adventure.

Lets see ... I have a full time job, own my own business, a full time husband, several large long haired dogs ... take a guess what my house looks like.

That said ... I vacuum EVERY day (see above "several large long haired dogs").

Dusting however only seems to happen when I brush up against something.

We seem to fill every surface with stuff at our house. We have 3 cats and a long haired white Husky and a gumball tree so he drags gumballs in on his tail all the time. I watch Sell this House on Saturday morning sometimes and the one thing that they always do is remove all the personal items and a lot of furniture. If that is possible for you, it might make it easier to keep clean. I always have a few dust bunnies I think they like it here.

How good a housekeeper am I? Well, my 6 year old grandson and I were sitting on the couch and I noticed some dust on the coffee table. I leaned over and "blew" the dust away. Grandson said, "Grandma, with all that dust you need a leaf blower". He's 19 now and still asks me if I bought a leaf blower yet. Cleaning?? Just the bare minimum so the Health Department doesn't show up!
