Default How to make a bow

Hi...a few weeks ago I saw a video somewhere (I have no idea where now) which showed how to make a bow or fabric flower by winding ribbon around what looked like a ruler. There was a name for the tool they used and I can't remember it, hence I can't find the video. You wind the ribbon around the 'ruler' and then tape the ribbon together and then slide it off the ruler and then you can stitch it and remove the tape. You loosely roll the stitched ribbon around and you have a flower.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about and where I might find the video?

Thanks

Not sure which tool you saw, but here are a couple of Youtube videos showing different bow making tools:

If you go to Youtube.com and search on "ribbon flowers" or "bow making" you might find the one you remember.

Thanks Prism...but they're not the ones I saw. I know you can buy the set of 'rulers' in sets of 3...3 different sizes in the set but I can't for the life of me think what they were called. I should have bookmarked it.

Anyway, I did have a fiddle from what I could remember and did manage to get a ribbon flower of sorts. I'll keep thinking and searching though

No, that's not it either. Maybe I should be asking aout flowers, not bows, as it was a flower she was making in the video I saw

I saw a lady doing that on the Martha Pullen show within the last two weeks. It was done by one of the ladies that does hand embroidery. The show was on PBS channel 2 out of Little Rock.

Does it look like a really full bow for a package, or is it a way to make a rose or another flower that doesn't look anything like a bow when you are finished? You have to search those two things in a different way on youtube.

Another good idea. Are you talking about some kind of mask that is used in quilting?

Hi...sorry, I've been away so haven't been able to see the posts. When it's finished it looks like loops and loops of ribbon and you can use it as an embellishment - like a fabric flower - on kids clothes or attach it to a hair band or baby headband...that sort of thing. You could use it for anything I guess. I'll keep searching and if I find it I'll post a link here.
