Is there anyone who can help me with Spanish, I just need extra help with explanations and sentence structure. At the beginning of the semester we started Preterit (past tense) and I've been lost ever since, unfortunately, this language is a part of one of my majors and I need to work on this... I currently feel as if I'm drowning. I like learning the language, but I'm finding it difficult.

Can anyone help? Any ideas how I can study over summer?

Wish i had some suggestions for you. My DH said that was the hardest class that he had to take. Have you looked online for free tutorials?

Yes, I have. I wish I could retake this class over the summer, but I am unable to, due to school rule that it be at this school... and they are not offering it this summer and I wouldn't be able to take it again till next Spring. I'm trying my hardest to get through class though (last I checked I was at a C)

My daughter is studying Spanish in high school. She would be lost without the help of a Mexican friend.

Can you find a native Spanish speaking student to tutor you over the summer? Often high school students are willing to tutor for $10 an hour, and even college students who are often unable to find good part-time jobs these days.

If you go to chat rooms, they are all starting to have rooms that are for people who are learning differnet languages! I found it helpful to talk to people who speak spanish that way, and then just read both what you type to them and what they type back outloud if pronounciation is an issue. Most on those boards are willing to help you with Spanish and are very patient, they just want a chance to speak/type English back to you!

Check with your nearest city's library and see if they have the Rosetta Stone software. The Columbus Metropolatian Library used to have it and it was free. The Spanish tut was great. Then they canceled it. Just when I was learning something. Oh well, check there, they might have it and should be available for free. My daughter who quilts works for the CML and she hooked me up. I have two grandkids in Texas who speak Spanish and Grandma can't tell what their saying most of the time. I just tell them to speak English. LOL

Have you tried any of the translator programs? I use Bing when I talk to one of my customers. I have some
Spanish but this helps me to be sure I have a correct translation so it makes sense to her. I always had trouble with past tense too.

I always have to tell my 4 yr old granddaughter to speak English-Grandma keeps trying but she just doesn't seem able to learn spanish. And gd lives in NY.

My daughter used Rosetta Stone for spanish. She already speaks English, Hebrew, and Japanese but decided to learn Spanish and she got the Rosetta Stone Program and learned.
