I can't get into some files. It says access denied to HP owner Rhonda. I can use everything as all users but it won't let me into my documents. I can search for them and find them so it is just a matter of changing the setting and I don't know how.

I need to change the setting in Documents and settings and I don't know where to find it. Can anyone help? Thanks!!

I tried differant files in control panel and am not finding it,. I know I probably have been in it before but just don't remember where to go to find it.

I can't help, either, but I am very glad to hear that at least the files are still there.......now just to be able to get to them. So close, yet so far away!

If you right-click on the file from the folder list, under "Properties" there could be a setting there also. Does it disallow you from all documents, or just certain varieties?

I'd look in Options for the program you are trying to open them in, too. Do you keep backup files, and does it let you open those?

when I go to my documents none of my files are there. I can get to them through a search so they are in the comp but when I find them through a search it says I am denied access.

I have windows xp. It says I am logged in as the administator but it will not let me have access. In the file it shows all users and those files I can open but the ones that say HP owner Rhonda it won't let me into. So I need to find where to change that. At least that is my best guess.

Rhonda, you may need to call HP and see if you need to reinstall your computer cd.. they would be best to ask of your problem.
