My Friend sent me this - thought I would pass it on -

THE OLD PATHS

I liked the old paths, when
Moms were at home.
Dads were at work.
Brothers went into the army.
And sisters got married BEFORE having children!

Crime did not pay;
Hard work did;
And people knew the difference.

Moms could cook;
Dads would work;
Children would behave.

Husbands were loving;
Wives were supportive;
And children were polite.

Women wore the jewelry;
And Men wore the pants.

Women looked like ladies;
Men looked like gentlemen;
And children looked decent.

People loved the truth,
And hated a lie.

They came to church to get IN,
Not to get OUT!

Hymns sounded Godly;
Sermons sounded helpful;
Rejoicing sounded normal;
And crying sounded sincere.

Cursing was wicked;
Drugs were for illness;
And divorce was unthinkable.

The flag was honored;
America was beautiful;
And God was welcome!

We read the Bible in public;
Prayed in school;
And preached from house to house.

To be called an American was worth dying for;
To be called an American was worth living for;
To be called a traitor was a shame!

I still like the old paths the best!

'The Old Paths' was written by a retired minister who lives In Tennessee.

I can agree with some of those but not all. Those were the days before permanent press, before dishwashers and microwaves, before anti-lock breaks, and before (GASP) internet!!!!!!!!!!! Oh --- and quilt making was a LOT harder!!!!

We traded hard work in for stress...I'd trade the stress of life today for my dishwasher and washing machine any day!

That's truly what made America great. Hard work, honesty, values, lots of praying.
Thanks for sharing.

I like parts of it, but someone's looking back with rose colored glasses. There was a lot of hurt in the world in 'the good ole days.'

Thank you for the uplifting parts.

Not the least bit interested in the "old paths".

I like working, went crazy for the few years I was home with small children, don't cook and have no interest in learning and would not be a part of a household where the husband wore the pants.

We are equal partners and have a life that allows us both to feel fulfilled, and have raised our four children to expect the same.

Sorry, but I think most of it sounds awful (for me anyway).
