Do not have it put together in the room without knowing it can be moved from the room without taking it apart. Know how it went together and how to take it apart. You will forget so take pictures.
Buy the smallest size you can, one that can be moved by one person.
If you don't have a dedicated work- out room for one don't get one even if it's a free one.
If you don't mind a big upright freezer laying down in a room then you won't mind a big treadmill being there.
I will never have another treadmill in my house.

we have one downstairs. We've hardly used it over the years. It folds up and i can move it around if necessary. it has wheels when folded up but it's heavy.

I had one in the garage I was using it had to go to the bath room when I got back the ceiling collapsed ( good thing I had to go at that time) ( there was a leek in the upstairs bathroom A day or two later my son went into the garage and the treadmill was smoking . We got rid of that one got another never got bock in the habit of using it again.

DH and I actually wore out 3 of them! That was the "good old days" when we both worked out every morning. Hmmm wonder what happened to that dedication? Oh, I know--we gave it to our DS!!

I used mine faithfully for a couple of weeks. I could already tell it was doing me some good. I had it in front of the TV, so it could be done without extreme boredom. I used to watch Alex Anderson's show and Carol Duvall. The problem was that those shows made me eager to do things that couldn't be done while walking on a treadmill. We still have the thing about 13 years later, and neither one of us uses it, but we always think "maybe someday". I have a feeling that someday may come when one of us has a heart attack, if we're lucky enough to still be able to exercise after that! Meanwhile, the overweight cat looks kind of cute lounging on the treadmill. It's not motorized, or at least she could get some exercise on it (assuming she might!).

There's a neat website called instructable.com. The young people who run that have devised special desks to go on treadmills allowing them to walk while working on their computers. They say they can't go very fast (about 1 mph, as I recall), but it's a lot faster than I'm going at the moment. They have instructions for making one of those desks. I keeping thinking it would be a good idea.

We have an area that houses a treadmill and a Joe Weider weight gym. The treadmill houses winter coats and hats. And boxes from a closet that is there and ones that will not fit into said closet. The Weider thing sits there with coats, hats, boxes, dog leashes, and I forget what else. I told him we needed to put both on the curb with free signs on them so I can use the space for a LA. He looked at me like I was nuts....
