I'm losing my job....more time for quilting!!!
#1
I know for sure that the plant I work for is shutting down. I have less than three weeks of work left. I'm putting in for all my vacation tomorrow in pay so I don't lose it. I'm thinking its a good thing. I have so much fabric, two rolls of batting(not including scraps) and enough thread for a couple of years, not including the embroidery stuff. So, I talked to my boyfriend and we decided it's time for me to get going and make a bunch of quilts. My mom and I have a quilting machine, so I can quilt everything. I'm just going to have some fun and make a bunch of quilts and other things and just try to sell them. If I feel brave enough, maybe I could start quilting other people's quilts.

Sorry you are losing your job, hopefully they have the resources to pay everyone out. At least you have a positive attitude...so go forth...make heaps of quilts and find lots of customers.

Thanks. I really can't afford to not work, so I'm just hoping I can sell some stuff. I'm going to be using my 6 months of unemployment so I can sew...lol. I can't let it get me down. I've got lots of stuff to do and to make and in the last two years, my job has become horrible anyways. Too many pay cuts, take aways, and they made everyone work even harder and do more jobs.

Quilting for others can be profitable also for those of us who can't afford or won't buy a longarm, etc. So can't wait to see if you get it going. The board is a good place to start and let local guilds know too, LQS's, etc. I believe everything happens for a reason, and usually good. Follow the road you are given and find an Emerald City. *H*U*G*S*
