I actually got some things done this morning that I have been putting off. I cleaned out my sock drawer; had been putting socks away without matching them up. I must have 100 pairs of socks. I actually threw out 1 pair that were all stretched out. I also put away summer clothes so I could get winter clothes out. If I didn't have so many shirts (mostly junk) I wouldn't have to rotate. Put some things in a bag for Goodwill. What are you doing today that you have been putting off?

When I do laundry, I put all the socks in a little bag(my old sheets came in it and it has a drawstring). After the bag is full, I make myself match them all up again. My kids are horrible with losing socks and we find them everywhere....in the couch, under beds, one kids leaves them outside in the summer, at her grandma's house. So I have to round up socks all the time.
I need to organize my kitchen cabinets. They are getting bad. I'm thinking of paying my daughter to do it(she's a super organizer:) )so I can keep sewing up these bags I started and try to get started on some table runners.

I cleaned out my pantry last week, it really needed it. Now I need to finish cleaning my MIL's closets and drawers, but that can wait till after Christmas. DD is moving out of her apartment and into the dorm, so I gotta make room for some of her things. Most of them we will sell in a yard sale and just start her from scratch after she graduates.

I have a drawer full of single socks, badly wanting a mate.
Every wash day I stuff the singles into a big drawer after mating
the others.

About every month or so I take them out and try matching them, and then each time I add a safety pin to them. When they get 6 pins, out they go. (I keep the pins)

Suggestion from long experience. Start her a Hope Chest, and add to it good furniture. Old, well made stuff is way better than lots of the expensive crap made today with pressed sawdust.It will clean up easier and last a heck of a lot longer, most of her life if kept up. And don't forget Hope Chests for boys.
We found this to to be true right after I married DH, his son was going into college and the entire family suddenly started rummaging through attics and basements and closets for stuff for his first apartment. I think he still has some of the better stuff even after 40 years.
My DH told me that when he first went to UC Davis, he and his room mate prowled the streets right before the garbage trucks, and stuffed his station wagon full of furniture and other goodies. DH had lovely taste and pictures of their rooms looked very nice. Now they have FreeCycle and Craig's List.

When we lived in Michigan, I saved the left over heavy sock to use as mittons when all of the pairs of my sons' real mittons were all wet from playing in the snow. They also were used by neighbor kids who came out to play with no mittons on at all. The kids didn't mind using them because they were warm and that meant they could stay outside in the snow longer.

I embarrassed to admit it, but we have a sock bag that hangs in the kitchen. I have five sons and they all wear white socks. They all also wear the same size. Not everyone gets their socks to the hamper. Those who don't used to take the socks of those who did. Now they all know where there are socks and can get them as needed. As long as they're clean no one minds sharing. We tried putting initials on the feet, that didn't last long. They ended up in the bag too.

My kids are really close in age, and I did that too. I bought everyone white palin socks, so they all matched.
