Does anyone know how I can get ball point ink out of a sweatshirt? I soaked it in Shout and washed it in cold and it did not come out. I have not dryed it yet, I didn't want it to set.
Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.
Anna

I have heard that hairspray (I think the old school aerosol kind) will work

Being a nurse I got a lot of ink on my uniforms. Hairspray can work because of the alcohol in it. I always had good luck by placing the garment on a thick layer of papertowels, then soaking several paper towels with alcohol and then blot, blot, blot. Move the paper towels under the garment to a different area frequently and change out the ones you are blotting with. The ink seems to move in to the paper towels underneath and into the ones you are blotting with. When you get as much out as you can then you can wash. I usually put Lestoil on before I washed (just for good measure), but probably wouldn't have to. Check on an unnoticeable are first, but usually it doesn't damage the color.

Hope this helps, good luck.

I have always used hairspray and elbow grease. It takes some work but usually comes out.

I run cold water from opposite side of stain..if it is from inside of garment run water from outside to minimize the ink to other fibers of garment. Then I soak with Dawn. Scrub and run with cold water. Line dry...do not put in dryer. Usually works.
