I don't sleep well because of a restless leg disorder, so I might be up any time of night or maybe all night. Take a nap when I can.

You might try taking melatonin which is a natural hormone that your body makes for sleeping. Also a nice cup of chamomile tea helps.

Tea made with St. John's Wort is another one that can help. Oh, also perhaps a turkey sandwich, if you eat meat. Turkey has tryptophan which induces sleep which is why so many like to take naps after a thanksgiving dinner. When a sleep routine changes it is normal to have sleep disruption... you would adjust soon if this became routine... maybe times when he is going to be away plan to start relaxing early including soothing and comforting yourself with one of the above relaxants and a favorite movie. You are amongst friends.

I went through insomniac periods as part of peri-menopause.

My friend has "sleep overs" with other friends (grown up version of pajama party maybe) and they watch movies or sew or whatever. Everyone has a great time. They have even baked cookies, cleaned or watched "scary" movies. Just a thought.

I take melatonin about the same time each night and try to go to bed about the same time. If I don't I sometimes can't sleep until two or so and getting up at 5;30 or 6:30 isn't easy. I usually only have a sleepness night and sleep like a log the next. Husband never has any sleepness nights, not even the night before surgery, I do, he doesn't. Go figure.
