I am so nervous. If you check my bio you will see that I teach sewing and quilting in my home. Last week I was asked to teach at a new quilting store. I was thrilled. Now I've been asked to be the guest speaker next month at a local quilt quild. I am so honored, but scared to death. I get nervous if we have more than 4 in SS where I am the crafts teacher for 2 & 3 yos.
I will be speaking on and showing my FeedSacks quilts.
I told DH next I would be writing books and soon be a TV personalitly.    Well I can dream can't I?

All the famous quilters had to start somewhere. Good going. You should be very proud that they've asked you. Let us know how it works out for you.

And we'll be able to say we knew you when . . .

I hope you enjoy the experience.

Great opportunity. Make sure to ask about the policies at local store. I started teaching at Hancock's local store 2 years ago. They wanted a sample for each class done in fabrics that were currently in store. When Valentines came they requetsed a new sample then after the costs (they gave me 20% but I had to pay for fabric) and time to make it they wouldn't display it for the class sign up. They claimed since the fabric was sold out and no longer available they would not display. Needless to say without anything to see only 1 person registered and I lost a lot of money. Make sure you know the policy for samples. Also if they let someone in without paying ro lose recrods where the person paid, you do not get paid. Happened to me twice. As far as speaking remember the old joke - picture them in their panties. Good luck and congratz.

Okay, now I am nervous for you! I hate public speaking. You know how when you're a kid and had to do a speach and they said that this was to prepare you to speak in public? It just gave me a lifelong phobia. I can teach a group but put me up in front of a crowd....nausea, sweaty palms, quiver in my voice.I hope to get through the rest of my life without having to do another speach!

I told DH I'd probably have to take a nerve pill first. I was in Toaster Masters one time thinking it would help with my fear of public speaking. I did take 1/2 a nerve pill for my first speach. Didn't stay in too long, couldn't handle it. But I am trying to keep in mind that this is a subject that I am well versed in. The last time I was in front of a group I told them they couldn't look at me while I was speaking. It broke the ice. I tend to talk faster, and faster when I get nervous.

You will do just fine! You are so knowledgeable and this a subject close to your heart. Just remember you are the expert up there teaching them. They will be in awe of you so you have nothing to fear.
I will pray you have courage and calm. I just know this is going to be a big success because I know you!
