oh, my dh was diagnosed last February with diabetes type 2 and i helped him, (not me), lose 47 pounds.
I was always afraid he would become complacent but for months and months he persevered, then sometime just before holidays he started messing up.
He goes over to his dad's to keep an eye on him, so I wasn't totally aware.
He gained back 17 and is now trying to take it back off.
The diabetic diet is way up there in my opinion as one of the healthiest diets around.
I have it on my fridge but kind of started using it as a guide and found my own stride.
I think I better add a multi vitamin to my regimen though cause I'm sure not eating all that much.
I think I may have been prediabetic with the washed out way I was feeling
Better now, woo hoo...let's keep keeping on everybody!

Mousie, use a pound of butter or lard. That's closer to fat. I've only lost a pound this month, but when I look at a pound of butter I feel better.

Today I found out something I didn't know. Weight gain is a side effect of Lyrica - it's known as the the 'Lyrica belly'. Sh!! I can't give it up and go back to the nerve pain in my back and foot, but I am surely not going ask my Dr to increase the dose as I was thinking of doing.

Mousie, your signature line, "The stuff you accumulate takes looking after" hits home. At this point in my housekeeping life, it takes stepping around. My bedroom is as cluttered with clothes as my body is with fat. I straightened the closet for a while this morning, but I didn't part with anything. That won't do. What's the best way to store purses? Since I can no longer be a shoe whore (not my term), I am becoming a purse wh---. No more red high heeled slingbacks, but several red purses, etc. Red - I wore a red sweater, a red wool coat and carried one of the red purses to church this morning. Did I say I like red?

I've taken it easy today except for dog walking, but I'll work on my quilt during Dowton Abbey. Lots of snow coming down so walking was pretty. Thank goodness, my neighbor does my shoveling.

Have a good evening, y'all.

right off the bat we have, let's see, is it 3 or 4 things in common?
I've been downsizing my house for almost a year (I am slooow, medically so, but slow)....so clutter is not foreign to me, but i do abhor it and it makes me nuts.
I found out in the fall that not only do I have a foot spur, but arthritis in my feet, I LOVE red...and red, and more red, especially with PINK!
and I need to lose weight for far more than vanity.
So, no more bikinis...not that I ever wore them lol, no more dress shoes...boo hoo, I've cut back on shopping bc i don't want to accumulate any more stuff and I don't want to stuff stuff in my mouth and I have more fabric than i can sew in my lifetime.
So that leaves me with my love for making tote bags and I don't know if they help hide my hips or it emphasizes them.
I do find myself going for smaller ones lately.
Think it's a coincidence? I have a feeling - not.
I used to make poles with hooks for my kids to hang their stuffed animals on...if you could get one, why not make your purses part of your bedroom decor?
I just had to put that in my siggie to remind myself that my "keeping everything" days are over and it's more fun to have room to move around. I totally related and enjoyed your post, thank you!

One doc wanted to give me Lyrica for my fibromyalgia and at the time I was so sick I just could not bring myself to take another medication.
I'm so glad I didn't get on the Lyrica. I have enough trouble losing weight.
I do take Cymbalta, but honestly on 30 mg a day, I cannot tell that it has helped with the fibro at all, so if you ever decide to change...it could do you more good than me, but you'll know that "possibly" it may take more than 1 capsule a day.
It does help with my depression though and for that I am thankful.
I have a hangup with either eating bc I am depressed or there have been periods in my life, where I would not eat much at all for the same reason.
I admit I am an emotional eater and come from a line of them.
I'm an emotional quilter too, so I am trying to look at some of my attitudes and make some changes. I've still got a lot of quilts left in me screaming to be made (music is a very good pill!)
Oh, while I am here: I had caught a sinus thingy three weeks ago and eventually I stopped exercising on my machine.
Last week I started changing my diet and gained a lot of energy back (low, low carbs+ high protein now).
Anyway, until this morning I had little idea what I weighed.
Even without exercise the scale said I had dropped 4 pounds.
That's a plus, but it may be that I have lost muscle, so I am not counting my chickens too soon.
I got back on after breakfast and managed 16 minutes before my i.b.s. kicked in.
I'll be back on again tomorrow...maybe before breakfast
But! I am encouraged.
Now I have a starting point and if it goes up a pound or so, I'll know it has to be muscle rebuilding and I will not be deterred.
This mouse shall fight the good fight forward!

I've been eating well but not losing any weight. Tonight I didn't eat well. I took a GD to dinner at a fast food restaurant. I am starting over right now - not waiting for tomorrow. Today was a pretty tasty feast day.

The baby quilt for a shower in Missouri on Sunday went in the mail Wednesday without a picture because my camera was balky. Tonight a picture showed up on Facebook - the soon to be father opened the package as soon as it arrived. It was hard to choose fabrics when we don't know the gender - I do know her bedding is yellow ducks. I must have done okay, because my GD and GDIL love it. Some of the fabrics were leftovers from their wedding quilt in 2011.

what a cute baby quilt irish. I have some nieces that I wanted to make some for but with everything else it got to be too overwhelming.
This looks like a reasonably quick pattern and fun too

Ok, I have a mess today!!! My nephew at Thanksgiving asked me to make a quilt that could be auctioned off to raise funds for his church choir for the tour they are going on this summer. I don't remember when the auction is, maybe March or April. Anyway, I said yes but would need a reminder after Christmas cause I was too busy.
I have not received the reminder but thought I should get started on it. I have a pattern to use that I have used twice before, calls for 8 FQ's, 1 yd inner border/sashing (sort of) and 1 yard outer border.
I pulled every one of my Asian fabrics ( I have a few) trying to decide what to do. Yesterday and last night I had no inspiration. I think I have the ones now that I am using, it is some of the ones I got from our Secret Santa. The problem is I now have fabric totally covering my sewing desk, my cutting table and ironing board and the floor in front of my ironing board. I decided to re-arrange my fabric cabinets a little so that my Asian fabrics will be (mostly) together. It's going to take me a while to get this all put back together just so I have room to sew!!!!
Maybe I should pick out a second set and make 2 tops and which ever turns out better I will send to my nephew and the other will be here for someone who may need a quilt hug in the future.
Well, better get to work!!!

Actually, Mousie, I have not yet figured out how to reduce the size of my pictures. I know it's been a year and I am supposed to be a moderator and help people with this but...... I have only posted a couple of pictures since the changeover and those I pulled off of facebook. I promise, someday, I will learn how to post pictures again.

I just finished getting things put away and have put together a second set of fabrics. I am currently eating lunch, at my computer, and will start cutting after I get some bread started for dinner. DH is home today, but leaves at 6:30 for a meeting. Maybe I will get them both cut out and some sewing in,...... maybe not. Depends on how long I "play" on the computer.
Today is laundry day and I am making some bread to deliver to an older couple, she has metastasized cancer and is going thru Chemo. A couple friends and I made her a quilt and I made some soup last week for them. She ended up in the hospital and I froze the soup. I told them yesterday I would call today and maybe bring it buy with some fresh made bread. They can thaw the soup and have it whenever. She is too weak and sick to cook and he never learned how!
