I had someone in Thailand try & get $10.50 out of my debit card. The bank caught it & of course didn't pay it. The bank told me that scammers try for small amounts of money at first & if it goes through then they know they have the correct bank info & then they will go in & draw a large amount out. I know this is different than what you are talking about but thought I would share it

Dang......maybe that old notion of putting money in the mattress isn't all that bad! Of course...that idea comes with its own issues! Maybe we'll have to go back to that other 4-letter word.......c-a-s-h ! ! Oh no!

If you don't want to do the survey, just don't do it. Square isn't going to rip you off. They rely on secure transactions to stay alive, as a business. Just like Paypal. Relax.

Square is a really cool little service for people who do transactions once in a while, and I've even seen small stores using it. They provide a free card reader and for a small percentage will transfer the funds directly into you acct.

If you have more questions about it, pm me and I'd be happy to talk to you about it.
A lot of vendors used Square at Quilt Festival last weekend. My only problem with it is that you don't get a receipt on the spot and I didn't get it emailed to me like they said I would. I've probably opted out of that with my credit card for obvious reasons, but it makes it hard for buyers to have a receipt for return.

I'm one of those dinosaurs that actually uses cash, Nora. LOL

I prefer paying with cash. I no longer carry CC or debit card unless I plan to use it & take just that one. Who really knows if it helps? Oh,well....we can only try.
