Ok, this is sort of a vent, whinney feel sorry for myself.

On Monday I went to help a board member I meet from the board here. Thanks to her I have a small part time job. Just in time too.... On the way to her house my car was making a 'noise', which my husband hates to hear me complain. The also needed some work he was putting off having done. Well on the way home I stopped at the dealers and a tech went for a short drive with me to hear the noise.
My husband estimated repairs at $900.00, we left the car and the call the next day, drive shaft (I think thats what is called), plus brakes, etc. double hubby's estimate.
fast forward two more day, fixed the orginal problem, dealer tech took it for a short drive before calling us it is fixed. get the call yesterday, with that noise out of the way, they can hear another one, NOT GOOD news, Now double the bill AGAIN for a new rear end. (4 wheel drive).
I LOVE my Escape, and no way can we buy a new car, so pay for this repair is our only option.
Can I say the dealer is awesome! They are working with us in anyway they can. They acknowledge we are great customers. I bought my Escape New from them in 2004 (it's a 2005), my son brought his LEMON to them, did not buy it from them.
Well this is long enough, and I don't want to continue to bore you.
thanks you letting me vent...
have a GREAT weekend:)

I've always found out that anytime we have to have car repairs done plan on $1000 just to get it back home. I don't have a car payment and what the monthly payments would be I put back each month just for these unexpected repairs. This is the way I was raised. I do this for five years(usually the time to finance a car loan)and if I'm lucky I can pay cash for a car. It may not always be a NEW car because of having to take money out for repairs, but a New "old" car for me. Car repair bills BITE!!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I had to replace an alternator this past week instead of getting my Accuquilt GO!......

Yuck! I hate that for you, brushandthimble. Vehicle repairs are so expensive.

Basketlady--I intend to do as you suggest when I have paid for my current vehicle. At least I will have savings for repairs!!

That's a really good idea! I currently have car payments (only a few months left to go), and I think I will use your method!! Thanks!!!

The AC went out in my car Sunday on the way home from Church. DH had it at the car place when they opened Monday. We have extended warrenty on it and yes it would cover the repair, but we have a $250 deductible. Luckly the repair was only $128 and we had it back in a couple of hours. We were fearing a very large repair bill so we were happy to pay the smaller fee.

I'm so sorry for you. I hate car repairs. I know nothing about cars so they can tell me anything and I'll believe them.
