Default Licorice Candy called Coal Candy

My daughter asked me to take a trip down memory lane.
She asked if I knew how it was packaged
It was black licorice candy in chunks and it came with a small hammer
to break up the chunks. I know we had it around in the 60's and maybe
earlier. How was it packaged? in a bag or in a box?
And do you remember the metal hammer?
What candy maker made this product?
Please share your memories and information.
and many thanks....

Thanks for the link. This will make a wonderful, fun gift for my father.

Never seen or heard of that one. They have sites that sell nostalgic candy. We sent a gift basket of it to my step-dtr one time for her birthday. Really neat stuff!

Try Vermont Country Store. They have a catalog, and also items available online, I believe.

Licorice!! If it's licorice, I am all about it. I don't remember the old packaging or hammer, but it's now MUST on my shopping list. Thanks for bringing it up. I am a licorice "addict" of sorts, who has just discovered licorice tea. Yummmm! No DUI's or cigarette runs for this girl just her licorice fix!

I'm with you here....just love my black licorice. Most people I know hate black licorice. I say, good....more for me then. LOL. I have had licorice tea also....yummy. Can't help with finding the hammer and licorice though. sorry.

I don't remember a hammer, but I think it used to come in little muslin bags.
