I have a lot of fabrics old enough they do not have the company or date on the selvages. Does anyone know when they started putting it on the selvage? And, are there some companies that DO NOT print information on the selvages? Just trying to identify how old some of the fabrics are. Thank you... :thumbup:

Some companies even now do not put any identifying information on the selvages.

Batiks are dyed all the way to the edge so no selvedge info on batiks.

I would imagine that the printers are identifying themselves so if you like the fabric you can find more of their stuff by name.
