Hi everyone,

I am trying to find other ideas for recycling these
glucose test strip containers (see pictures below).

So far the ONLY thing I use them for is storing old
bent/broken needles before I discard them.

Since I average about emptying a container about
every 6-8 days I have no shortage of them. I have
been throwing them away because I could not figure
anything else to use them other than for the needles.

I would not mind sharing/mailing them to anyone who
would want some, but being that I am mostly unemployed
(work temp agency when there is work) I can not afford
to pay for to much right now.

in the office holding paperclips? in the garage holding small screws and small nails? scrapbooking holding all those little embellishments?

Perhaps putting a little pin cushion puff on the lid and store hand sewing needles in the container. Great for take along.

Without something there for size relevance, it's really hard to know how large these are.

Some ideas that I have ...

* keeping lots of little things, as suggested by others

* if leak proof ... single serving salad dressing when taking my lunch

* bobbins ... would it be large enough to hold 2 or 3 pre-wound bobbins?

* needles ... broken/bent as you suggested; good ones sorted to size, and ready to use for specific purposes ... good idea above, put a little puff on top for a mini pin cushion

* fragrance ... put a cotton ball inside, and a drop of vanilla, or peppermint oil, close the lid .... open and a lovely refreshing scent!

* purse size pill containers ... be sure to label appropriately

* coins ... are they large enough to keep a few coins all consolidated in one spot?

* give away ... ask at a school, day care, church, etc. and they may have uses for them for crafts

KNow any hunters? My husband used to use film canisters for his buck lure but we have gone digital. Have to tell him about them too.

hand quilters could drill a hole in the top and use it as a thread holder. keep the thread clean and untangled. just pull what you need from the top.

Good point about listing the size.

The INSIDE diameter is the size of a nickel, and the
height (inside) would hold 24 nickels.

They are moisture proof (because of the test strips)
I would NOT try using them for anything to do with
food. The inside lining is NOT removable.

Makes sense ... as I mentioned, I knew nothing of the actual item.

Yes, it may not be advisable for food items ... unless there is a way to disinfect/sanitize, etc.

* Perfect mini-piggy-banks! You could sort pennies, dimes and nickels .... ready to spend? or to roll in wrappers! Send $ with kids to school.

* Christmas gifts ... put paper money or cheques inside and cover the label in a Christmas design! Even could hang on the tree!

they are great for pill containers as they close VERY securely.
