Yes, it is true..but do not get very excited...it is a VERY small dept. So far they have put in a few sewing machines, some new notion sections, like the wrights tapes are now on peg wall rack, as are patterns, and threads, that all fills about 10' of peg wall...then comes another 8' of assorted notions...then there is about 8' of precuts..FQ's, jelly rolls (though only 20 strips, not 40+), and some charms. The fabric is CHEAP...and I do not mean inexpensive, I mean CHEAP..you can actually count the threads in the warp/weave...the Greige goods they use are like gauze or cheese cloth..I highly doubt the inks will stay on for long...it was very sad fabric for sure..They are going to have 3 sections for bolts...but that is all...wondering just what they will have...won't be much for sure. Especially if they bring in any battings, stabilizers, etc. For those that do crafts it might be ok, but it won't be anything like before and it won't do for quilting.
wish they would have left good enough alone 2 years ago...

Walmart has bitten their own butts when they did away with the fabric departments. I know that here where I live, they did not take them out, but did downsize them dramatically. The quality of the fabric now is horrible and it is true that you can actually count the threads and I also think that the inks will wash out of the fabric. And the prices are almost as much as if you were to have gone to the LQS to buy fabric...so for that reason I no longer buy fabric at Walmart. I would rather go and support my local LQS and GET GOOD fabric then spend my money on garbage fabric.

The Walmart in west Lawton is in the process of stocking a very, very small fabric departement. I did buy two fabrics that were $1.50 a yard. One seemed to be a nice quilt shop quality fabric the other, not so much. It has a somewhat loose weave but is a beautiful fabric, so I decided to take a chance on it and see if it will tighten up after washing.

and there are those who will always buy the WM fabric due to price alone...though what I looked at today, pretty or not, will never hold up to much wear at all..
