One of the last things I did for my Mom before she had a stroke was cut her toe-nails - after she soaked her feet. In fact, it was three days before she had her stroke.

Good reminder. Kind of depressing to know that I'm getting on the "needing to be taken care of" end of life.

Never forgot it for a moment...right up to the last moment with both of my parents. My Daddy died in 1981 (age 44) and my Momma in 2007 (age 71). I was blessed with awesome parents. Still love them both & miss them dearly.

Time for Mom to move in with us...we have been putting it off to allow her as much independence as possible, but now it's time. Not looking forward to this discussion.

I was raised by my grandmother so I don't miss my parents but miss not having parents. and DH lost his mother when he was a child and his father some time ago. We have no parents or older close relatives. DH and I ARE the older relatives in our family! LOL

My dad passed away in 2006 and I was holding his hand when he went to be with the Lord. I'm crying now because I miss him so much! He was 81 and ready to go but I was not ready to let go. I never said that to him because I didn't want him to feel like he had to stay for us. Mom is still alive but losing her memory. It's a hard time of life for everyone.

My Mom died in 1990 and Daddy in 1994. I was fortunate to be with them and to have been able to spend time with them before they died. DH and I are the old folks now, in our 70's and have 3 caring and loving kids. God is good and has blessed us richly!
