Once again I had to work a Memorial Day festival. This year however we had the hot air balloons. I was so fortunate to assist as a chase crew member along with my husband for one of the pilots. It has been 16 years since we've had the opportunity to do this. It's in my blood again. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford to get my pilot's license.

If so, my balloon will look like a quilt!

DH and I were involved in this sport from 1973 to 1990. DH was a commercial pilot and I was his crew chief. I remember a balloon that looked like a quilt. I think it was from Kansas. It was called "Raggedy Ann."

I have heard that a tethered ride versus a free flight is like kissing your sister.

How long to fill one of those? before takeoff? 15 - 20 minutes.

In this hilly part of the country we have been lucky to see balloons floating over our house, had one land at the end of our dead end road, years ago, really excited the kids.
