I can sort a route out from a map but find it easier to follow the GPS as I drive mostly alone. My father in his later years was registered blind but we enjoyed drives together. When driving in Wales he could always tell me exactly where we were. As a young man with mum he had cycled around the area and kept the information in his mind.
P.S. He always knew how fast I was going.

Well, my DH will ask....after I nag him for a while to ask for directions! In his defense though, he does pretty good at getting us where we need to go, but like zennia's husband, he refuses to turn around in someone's driveway! He will have me on pins and needles while he turns around on a two-lane road by backing up and turning the wheels, and pulling forward until he can get turned around. I usually just close my eyes and pray that no one comes along!

Mine used to tell me I had no sense of direction. I agreed with him but at least I was smart enough to know when to stop and ask for directions. I think most women have a story similar to yours. I agree, its in their DNA

same here, my husband doesn't want to ask for directions. He usually has a good sense of direction but sometimes he is so stubborn and refuses to ask for directions when we need them. They tell me that it's a man thing.

I can find things so easily, sometimes I just look for the location of the sun. Once we were in Germany and we went up a mountain at night and came down exactly where I thought we should be and we were. My DH can not find his way out of a paper bag. He tells me to draw pictures of where he should go or to write it down for him. I love maps best and the Garmin second. I never trust the Garmin completely after it takes me to empty parking lots.

In our car, my husband is the driver and I am the navigator. We also use our smart phone. Instead of a female voice we chose the male Australian voice. So we ask, Crocodile Dundee for directions and blame him when DH makes the wrong turn.
