Has anyone heard of it? I found this charity event about 3 mos. ago and jumped on it as a fundraiser for my charity, AFSP. Check it out here: www.themomprom.org.

April 29th is the National Mom Prom Day. Events were held all over the U.S. We held our event last night at a local country club. The dj donated half of his cost and the photographer donated her time and a portion of the proceeds of the sales of the pics purchased. We had gift certificates and baskets chanced off and a quilt. (OMG! I think I forgot to take a pic of the quilt!)

Here are some pics.

we crowned a Prom Queen and voted for the "tackiest" dress. But all the dresses were gorgeous so we went with unique. We even gave out goody bags with bling- nice compact mirror with a butterfly on it. Our theme was butterflies (like setting a stigma free) and chose pink for a "girly" theme.

The comments- can we do it again next week?
this better be an annual event! this is awesome!

We had 80 women attend. Everyone expects it to double next year. And best of all- we took a difficult subject (suicide awareness) and gave awareness to many more women who can pass along the info we gave them.

Oh- Disney paired with Mom Prom for the opening of their new film Prom and gave our winner of the tackiest dress a soundtrack cd and poster from the film.

Next year is already in the planning process!

Elvis left the building- and not with the girl who brought him (me). Someone decided to take him! My daughter found him on the party bus (her 21 friends got together and rented a bus) and got him back. I was a bit miffed, but then- somebody tried to take Alan Jackson- I caught the girl in the foyer just before she went out the door. Why do people feel the need to steal things? These are expensive. (I must say Alan Jackson was the most sought after!)

Over all- it was a blast. Today I unpacked everything and organized it for next year. The guys are in the basement (I've had Alan since 2004- he hides my well) and all the decorations are boxed up. My feet still hurt and I feel a bit tired. Facebook has been filled with pics and everyone commenting how how much fun they had. Totally worth all the work.
