By now most of you know about my sons house being broken into. When I took the children back home, my DDiL said she needed to fix some supper. I asked my DGD what she would like to have for supper and she wanted sloppy joes. I told my DDiL and she said she didn't know if she had the things to make it. My DGD said,(in her most exasperated voice)" You mean they took the hamburger too?"

That's precious! I hadn't known about the break-in, so let me say now how sorry I am and that I hope things get better for them soon. You make sure that story of the little one's comment doesn't get forgotten. That's something she'll enjoy hearing she said when she's an adult.

Oh Ditter, I'm so sad to hear about this. I know how violated it makes you feel, because it happened to us. I hope they get over it quickly - and how darling of your DGD. It gave them something to smile about when they needed a smile!

As Art Linkletter used to say - "Kids say the darndest things". But usually what they say has a ring of truth to it. That was cute and definitely one for a memoir book. So very sorry to hear of the troubles your family has had. About 20 years ago my storage was broken into and the same day, there was an attempt to steal my car. Steering column ended up broken but the car was still there. BUT, and this hurts even today - my 2 children's "1st Christmas" ornaments and things like that were taken. Not replaceable. I hope your son did not have beloved momentos taken!!! Or worse, pictures with no backup.

Ditter, I know your family's pain. My GD's home was broken into also 6 weeks ago. She is a single mother of two little girls and could ill afford to have this happen. Besides what the thieves took, they ruined her furniture. Of course, she has a high insurance deductible, which keeps the premiums low. But the violation that you feel. Her 4 year old is petrified now of being home and scared to death if they go home after dark. So when they come visit, they go home before it gets dark. My prayers for your family.
