If you wrap your celery in aluminum foil it stays for a very long time. Read that hint somewhere, have done it ever since. Just thought I'd pass it along.

Have to try that....on all single root veg....celery, cabbage, lettuce, I will thin slice off the bottom, take a paper towel, dampen, fold to fit over that newly cut feeder root, then put into plastic bag, but keep top open...as I use that veggie, will refresh that water source.....works for me.

Several years ago I made veggie bags from sheer polyester I found as a flat fold. I used a grocery plastic bag as a pattern and French seams to enclose the edges. Using the selvage edge as the bag top saved turning under a raw edge. They are sheer enough for clerks to read the upc code. Sometimes they stay on the food in the fridge, but I store tomatoes on the counter. They get tossed in the laundry after every use. My grocery bags are over 10 years old made out of corduroy and denim. The corduroy was an awful pumpkin orange so made good use of an ugly fabric. I took the dimensions of a paper bag for this pattern, boxed the bottom and added handles. They are washed after every other use. Usually keep them in the car so they are there when I need them.
