Ok, I have to explain....I had applied for a job at this place last October, and they selected someone else. The current job was work I liked, but the benefits were non-existent, so I was keeping a look out for something better. The wonderful HR person at the new place remembered me, pulled my resume out of the file, and called me for an interview 3 or 4 weeks ago. They called me for a second interview last Thursday, and the HR person told me she was pretty sure they were going to give me an offer the next day (Friday). I called home Friday noon to see if there was any news, and my DH said, yes, they left a phone message that an offer would be in my e-mail. So I didn't have to worry about hurting anyone's feelings by giving my notice, because they laid me off first! I got home at 4:00, talked it over with DH, and called them back to accept. Better pay, better benefits, shorter drive!
Thanks for all your good wishes!

One time I seemed to be on a lucky streak. Any notion of something I wanted seemed to cause it to fall into my lap. Although I never play the lottery, I got it into my head that this might be the right time to buy a lottery ticket, and it was one of the really big jackpots. So I did. The next day, I rear-ended someone in my car. My first accident in decades of driving. Totally my fault.

Moral: do not tempt the gods of luck.
