My hubby and one of our dogs were attacked by swarm of yellow jacket wasps.

That happened to my husband and 2 kids when we had just moved into our house up north, but with yellow jackets. The people before us never raked, mowed or cleaned the huge side yard. They were outside in the early evening and one of them stepped on a under ground nest. They got stung and ran into the house, yellow jackets following. Someone told my husband to go to the hole after it got dark, pour motor oil into it and seal it off with a coffee can. It worked. Hope your husband is OK

Glad you husband is okay.
I hate to say this but those wasps can kill when they attack like that. My boss had a friend who died from one of those wasp attacks. He hit a nest with his lawn mower. I guess he was highly allergic to their stings. You should be aware of their activity in an area. I'm told you can see several flying in and out of the nest at all times when they are active during the day. Be careful. It's dangerous stuff.

Last October we 2 yellow jacket wasp nests- one outside our entrance door and the other in our basement underneath our bedroom. Very scary because suddenly for no apparent reason, my bedroom was full of wasps. Without all the details we called an exterminator and the problem was gone within 10 days. My husband and I had to sleep in the living room. GOOD LUCK! I was attacked by one nest when I tried to kill it myself. In retrospect, probably not a smart idea.
