... are in a wonderful youth chorus, which from time to time gets to collaborate with the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus. This summer they will be singing with the BPC in a concert on July 23rd at the Chautauqua institute, which is a western-New York artsy community.

And the BPC director gave them the news last night that this particular concert has been selected to be broadcast all across the country on NPR!

They will be singing Bach's "Magnificat", and Leonard Bernstein's "Mass". Serious stuff, this is!

Aren't they so very fortunate to have this kind of opportunity??

This is a wonderful opportunity for them. The more positive exposure children get like this the more positive they become. Thank you for sharing such a positive experience.

That is great! Sounds like they are getting a very good music education. That will be quite a star on their resumes.:)

"Proud Mama" was overcome by a moment of extreme and uncharacteristic boldness, and requested permission from the director to do more than just transport the kids and sit in the back of the room during rehearsals. I asked if I might be allowed to sing along during the practices... and was graciously invited to sing with them for this concert.

Normally one has to audition first! But one of the kids' former music teachers, who also sings in the BPC, basically vouched for my potential value (I raised two singing kids, after all)... her timing was perfect, the director was in a good mood, and I have a MAJOR WIN!

To say I'm having a ball is a huge understatement!

And to think a couple days ago you were worried about which movie theater to go to!

You are sooo busy and sounds like a good mom to boot.

I have fond memories of singing in high school, in the chorus, the traveling choir, and in church.
