Default my recent use of scraps-lots & lots of scraps

I decided to use up some of the scrap strips that were overflowing from the basket i had been tossing them in- so made a 'locker hooked' rug- this rug took a long time (& even though it took alot of strips of fabric-my basket seems to still be full)
I started it at work over a year ago- i was caring for a 98 year old gentleman- he took great interest in this project & would have me sit next to him while i worked on it- as it grew he started wanting to hold it on his lap while i worked on it- sometimes he would pull out strips for me to use next- sometimes he would tell me what to do in the next section- once he sent me out to the kitchen to fix lunch-stating he would just hold it for me---and he proceeded to remove a whole section while i made lunch! guess he had a better plan for that spot
he passed away- last november(at99) & did not get to see it finished- when he got sick i brought it home & tossed it in a closet---a couple weeks ago i came across it & decided i really should finish it up- it has some wonderful memories of him for me
the 'Sparty' in the corner is a special addition for him- he was a big Michigan State fan, Alumni, made sure his kids, grand kids, great grandkids all went to state.
the rug measures 27" x 38" i still need to back & bind it but the hooking part is finally finished.
It weighs over 5 pounds! so has ALOT of fabric scraps in it!

Great rug ... especially Sparty in the corner (from a life long MSU fan/Northern Michigan alum!) It's nice that you will have fond memories from this project.
