I had the same problem one year They can chomp down all your flowers in one night. It is so frustrating.
Beings that we live in town it is a little hard to shoot the buggers though. So we used the live trap method and dropped them off in some woods out in the country. There were no other homes around so we weren't delivering trouble.

Beautiful corner of the world. I just planted three this year and patiently waiting for some bloom. Right now the are huge green balls.
