thanks for the site. Now I can do some detective work. I usually use a Sharpie to write the date I open the container but I often wonder how long it has been sitting on the shelf before I buy it.

This is interesting. Checked the bottle of Cover Girl that I bought Saturday. Found out it was made in May of 2011, and is good for 36 months. It was over a year old when I bought it.
