My MIL had a Singer featherweight 221-0 that looks in very good shape. It has case, also in good shape and manual and other accessories. The manual is dated 1955 and the serial number is AW367607. I think she purchased it used. She never sewed. When I mentioned to my BIL that I was interested in it and would be willing to buy it from the estate, all of a sudden two other SILs ( who never sewed)decided that they wanted it too. I do not want to get into any cat fight or cause any family trouble. So I am looking to see if anyone here: 1) Knows what year it is
    2) Has an idea what it's value is
    3) Thinks it is worth pursuing
I am looking forward to any help....thanks

Value depends a lot on the part of the country you're in. I don't know about NC, but here in the urban Midwest a featherweight with case in the condition you describe, with accessories, would sell for $300 to $500. (In this economy, I would say $300.)

The year isn't as important as cosmetic condition. The better the cosmetic condition, the more the machine is worth.

I would say you should have first dibs. It is valuable too. I would say at least $400.00.

i live in missouri and i would say around here it would be around 200 to 250 higher if in great condition. Cost more if bought at a store and not from individual.

Just paid $325 for mine. It would have been more on eBay. Does it work? It isn't just about cosmetics. And I think the models in the later years are less valuable than the older ones.

It is worth whatever you are willing to pay for it.

I have a Featherweight and not an expert but can you double check that serial number? I can't find any reference to serial numbers that start with the letters AW. AL would be 1955. If you want to get a general sense of what they're actually selling for you can go to eBay's advanced search and click on completed transactions.

AW shucks tell them it is about $25... Maybe you can draw names out of a hat to see who gets it.

Hope they are not wanting it thinking it is valuable and then they would resell it. If a price is set and one of you 3 buys it, I would also agree that if any of you decide to sell it, the other 2 gets first dibs.

I'm not being mean...we are going thru that now in my parents estate and that is the stipulation we put on things we might buy from the estate.
