Our area was recently devastated by severe flooding. Hundreds of families are displaced as a result. Two of our sons, had significant losses. An item, that seems unimportant in comparison to houses and cars being lost, is Christmas ornaments. Five Grandchildren are affected, so they've lost all those '1st Christmas' ornaments and any other meaningful ones as well; ballerinas, Yankees, photo ornaments, hand made school 'treasures', etc. . If you were trying to help a family recover those things, what would you suggest?

I would try garage sales, and maybe ask the grandchildren to help make some new things. It could be a project for you to do with them. Thrift stores also have decorations sometimes.

I feel so very sorry for those who lost so much. All we had was a rainy day.

Maybe you could take an afternoon with the children and help them craft ornaments for a "Christmas of New Beginnings".

Making new memories will be very healing. Rejoice that only things were lost and the family is in tact. Let us know if we can assist in any way.
