Default Two Year Old GS Birthday

Today is my GS 2nd birthday and we're having cake and ice cream tonight. This morning though when the boys, 5 & 2, we're eating breakfast we sang Happy Birthday to him. Either we were too loud, or our singing was really bad, but he started crying...great big tears! Poor baby!

He was probably upset that he didn't get cake and ice cream for breakfast - if you were singing that's what I would want

When my DGD turned 2, he performed a "throw down". Then he cried when we tried to get him to blow out his candles and he didn't want anyone to sing Happy Birthday to him!!! Never know with those 2 year olds!! LOL

sometimes they just don't understand all that attention. they think they must have done something wrong for everyone to be looking at them. so cute!

My first and only grandson turned two today - and I was too sick to go! I would have loved to participate even if tantrums were involved. Hey - they're two. It's a rough spot almost universally.

this is a very common behavior for 2's. i think it is the focus on them and the noise (sorry, but by a 2's perspective a lot of people singing out of tune is frightening. add to that you include his name, and have fire.) it's all new to him. he certainly doesn't remember turning 1. with reassurance he'll grow up to enjoy birthdays like the rest of us, until he's 30 and doesn't want to celebrate any more. next year will be so much better and when he's 4 he'll be all about the birthday! happy birthday to him! my dgd will be 2 on august 3rd. let the fun continue!

My grandson turned 6 a couple weeks ago - this was the first year we were allowed to sing, have cupcakes at school - any celebration of his big day. He'd take presents, but only if unwrapped. He didn't want all the attention on himself. He would cry and hide in his bedroom! The other one can't get enough attention LOL Kids are too funny.
