I think it's tacky when I see someone wearing pj's out in public but could live with it, I guess. Well, that said, I think I just saw a new low today when I went to our mall. Someone was wearing a bath robe at the mall. Yes it was a bath robe(only no pjs to go with) the other people I was with noticed her first. Is this a new fashion trend? I'll pass on it and not be trendy (getting to be an old fuddy duddy here).

It used to irritate my DIL no end that I wouldn't let her go out with me anywhere if she was wearing pajamas...

Just a robe?

I haven't been to a mall lately, but I certainly wouldn't doubt it! I'm just waiting for the guys to pull up those ugly, baggy pants-showing their underwear and the girls wearing jeans with holes that show their underwear at the hip pocket! YUCK - not attractive! You are not an old fuddy duddy, just classy :)

I'm used to the PJs when I'm in a college town. The occupants are usually greasy faced, messy haired and reek of the morning after while shopping for some magical elixir and junk foods.

That said, I keep seeing PJs in airports and that's freaking me out. Unless you're a still loaded 19 year old, knock it off!

I'm surprised security didn't detain the bathrobe for questioning and an escort out.

I agree with plainjane. Once my husband and I were in the food court at a mall. As we sat down at the counter to eat our lunch, three young women came over and sat down very close to us. One of them had on low cut jeans and was wearing a thong. She actually pulled her jeans down much lower and asked the other two if her thong was showing enough while she was sitting. Talk about making one lose their appetite. My husband just shook his head in disgust. I bit my tongue to make sure I didn't make a comment about it. I can't think of a situation where being classy isn't the correct choice.

When my daughter was a teenager we had our share of battles over the 'sleazy' look that was all the rage at that time. I was particularly down on the shorts and shirts that proclaimed 'Hottie' in big letters. I told her if you really are, then you don't have to announce it to the world. Those that do are 'wannabes'. That's now our code word for anything or anybody that is a showoff or tries to be something they're not.

You know . . . Last week I also saw a women (mature) at Albertson's who was wearing a robe. I just figured she was either homeless, or had an emergency purchase. It was around 7PM. I sure hope this isn't a new trend. What's happening to our society? Don't people have any pride any more?

I've been retired for several years now and every day it's still a shower, dress, comb my hair, put on earrings, lipstick and yes, perfume. Many days only my husband sees me. Personal hygiene and pride are still in my daily routine.

How can you love someone else if you don't love yourself?

I did not realise that going out in your PJs was also rife in US. It certainly is in certain places here in UK. My boys refer to these peolpe as "The great unwashed"

I like this description!

Personally I think the slippers with the jammies really make a statement..... NOT! I'm uncomfortable if I have to have something at the grocery and I have not 'done' the hair and I have street clothes on!
