WOW...when you look at 212 pages of members it sounds almost impossible....and when you actually look at some of the registered member names...I suppose it is alot of SPAM type on there. Thank goodness the ADMIN. does such a great job of "filtering" , JUST WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT I REALLY APPRECIATE ALL THE EFFORT PUT INTO THIS!

It amazes me how many members we have. It has remained such a friendly, helpful site. We all know this is thanks to the administrator and his lovely monitors. Thanks so much.

Yes, there are a lot of user accounts created for sending spam to other board members. There are companies that do it as a business.

I will add my "thank you" also.
This is indeed a unique board and I appreciate the care that has been taken to keep it a good enterprise.

Great question! What is the purpose of the fraudulent ones?

When you signed up here, you created a user account. Yours is "Ninnie" :)

Mostly to post forum spam promoting the same kinds of products you see promoted in e-mail spam.

how do you tell a legitimate user from a fraudulent one?
It's a never-ending battle, and there aren't any specifics. But most of the time it becomes clear right away. When someone registers and starts posting messages about, say, a "great new credit card offer" or something like that without ever posting anything about quilting, you usually know right away.

But so far we've been fortunate enough not to have many of those.
