Default non-elastic soft bands on skirts, pants, and panties

I have a nerve in my back at waist level that kicks in when I try to wear clothes that ride on the waist. It can be debilitating. I have tried Yoga Pants and the seam at the band doesn't work. I am constantly trying to adjust whatever I am wearing up or down but it doesn't work. I need a flat seam on the panties, pants, skirts, etc to live in comfort and cannot find ANY THING. I just had knee surgery and cannot walk as far as I would like without comfort. I really need slacks because I live in cold weather and need to go out to walk. I must not be the only one with this problem. This board is so helpful, so am hoping.

A lot of the new stretch jeans and athletic pants are being made now using rib knit for a waistband, but I don't have personal knowledge of how it works. I think you would need a knit that doesn't have too much stretch or they would fall off. You could always have the seam on the side.

Can you wear pants the are at your waist with a band and side zipper? What about overalls?

Try bigger pants and get suspenders! Just wear a really cute top and maybe a lacey vest over it! You just may start a repeat trend.

Have you tried those pants, with the 'fold-down' waist? About a year or so ago, I got a pair for my daughter (from Land's End but don't know whether or not they still carry them) but they were a bit too big for her, so I now have them (I'm just a bit heavier than she is). Folded down, the pants don't work for me BUT with that wide band left up, they're very comfortable! The 'waist' panel reminds me of maternity pants, in that it's very stretchy. The waist band is a rib-knit and not at all tight, left up. The rest of the pants are knit and fitted enough below the band, to stay in place. According to my daughter, the style was pretty popular so you may still be able to find some, somewhere.

I think Victoria's Secret/Pink carry that type of fold-down waist stretch pant that Neesie describes.

I have tried about six different kinds and of athletic, yoga etc. pants and they all have a seam somewhere that irritates. I would sew myself some if I could find a waist band that is seam free to add to the top with a flat seam rather than a sewn together one. Thanks

The pants you are describing are the yoga pants and they are perfect except where the top hitches to the pants creates a seam and it doesn't work. If the seam were flat it might work. Tried to find a pre-made stretch band I could sew on a pair and make it flat, but haven't been successful. Thanks

Why not look at pants for pregnant ladies. I have just seen a pair of fleecy leggings. You could try the last pair of nickers which will not stay up unless have a pair of tights on.

Jockey for her has undies with no back seam, and the waistbands are basically "knit" on. the panties are knit. I can't remember what they are called, but if you look around the website you should have several choices. Not inexpensive, but you can order online.
